Exterior Refurbishment

VANSON boasts a fantastic aircraft spray booth in which all aircraft are painted. We have a dedicated paint shop team together with spray painters who have painted hundreds of fixed wing aircraft and helicopters over the past ten years.

Our paint shop team are continuously receiving specialised training and strive to achieve the best possible exterior finish on each and every aircraft. This is achieved by ensuring that they have excellent technical skills as well as complete product knowledge in their particular field of the exterior refurbishment. State of the art spray guns and pressure regulators further ensure that the aviation coatings are applied with maximum gloss levels.

The typical exterior refurbishment :

  • A consultation with the client in order to choose the colours and colour scheme to be applied to the aircraft.
  • On arrival of the aircraft, it is inspected by ourselves and then sent to an approved Aircraft Maintenance Organisation to have all the control surfaces and cowlings removed prior to paint stripping.
  • The aircraft is then masked up and all areas not to be paint stripped i.e. windows, fibreglass or composite panels are covered.
  • The aircraft is then completely paint stripped.
  • The aircraft is then washed with Magnus 149X and alodined.
  • All composite and fibreglass components and engine cowls where necessary are scuffed and repaired and then sprayed with spray filler.
  • The aircraft is then completely primed. Once the primer is dry all minor dents are repaired with body filler and then these areas sprayed with spray filler.
  • All jointed areas where needed are resealed using PRC.
  • The primer and filler primer is then scuffed to a smooth finish ready for the top/finishing coats of paint.
  • The aircraft is completely resprayed according to the clients specifications and colour scheme.
  • All wheel bays and the undercarriages are scuffed, cleaned and painted together with any wing walk.
  • The aircraft registration is painted on and all masking paper removed.
  • The aircraft is then sent back to the Aircraft Maintenance Organisation that removed all the flight controls and cowlings to have these balanced and refitted to the aircraft. At this point undercarriage retractions are done and the aircraft is re-weighed.
  • Final inspection, touch ups and new decals are applied prior to the aircraft being delivered to the client.
  • The aircraft is washed and hand glazed ready for collection.

VANSON also specialises in the painting of corporate livery and touch ups. We welcome the opportunity to quote on any exterior or interior paintwork and ensure you of our best attention and workmanship at all times.

Refurbishing

Interior Refurbishment

Vanson specialises in the refurbishment of aircraft interiors. We have a large assortment of Aviation approved materials for our clients to choose from. These materials include both imported and locally manufactured leathers, carpets, roof linings, sheep skin and assorted fabrics.

A typical Interior Refurbishment would include the following:

  • A consultation with the client in order to choose the interior colours and design or style of the new interior.
  • The complete stripping or removal of the old interior from the aircraft.
  • The seats are then stripped, mechanically serviced and the seat frames resprayed to match the new leather colours.
  • The seat foam is then rebuilt and shaped to the desired shape. New leather seat covers are sewn and fitted to the seat together with matching embroyed headrests if so requested.
  • The aircrafts glare shield is recovered and refitted to the aircraft.
  • The side panels are recovered in leather.
  • New carpets are then custom cut in the aircraft and then bound.
  • All window and other interior plastics are repaired and painted with aviation approved water base paint to match the new interior.
  • A new roof lining is manufactured from material chosen by the client, once again matching the new interior.
  • The safety belts of the aircraft are re-webbed and then tested in accordance with our safety belt manufacturing license.
  • In the event that the aircraft has wooden dividers, tables or cabinets, these are refurbished using Formica chosen by the client.
  • Lastly the interior is completely reinstalled and the aircraft is prepared for delivery to the client.
  • Vanson also specializes in partial interiors and welcomes the opportunity to quote on any seats, seat covers, carpets, side panels, roof linings, repair and respray of plastics and all types of Cabinetry work.
